Walnut production in Romania strengthened over recent years due to favorable weather conditions and new plantings. Rising demand, profitability, and European Union (EU) subsidies drive interest among growers. Although domestic production mostly meets local demand for walnuts, Romanian consumers rely on imports for almonds and pistachios.
