Multilateral Engagement

By monitoring and participating in international fora, FAS encourages both adherence to, and transparency in, the international rules-based trading system. FAS actively represents the interests of U.S. agriculture  in the World Trade Organization (WTO) committees on Agriculture, Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Issues, and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) , as well as through coordination with international bodies such as the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Plant Protection Convention, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the Inter-American Board on Agriculture/Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IABA/IICA).
