U.S. consumer-oriented exports products to Venezuela in 2016 (through November) were valued at $21.6 million, down 54 percent from the same time period a year before. Total U.S. agricultural product exports to Venezuela were also down seven percent in 2016 (through November) to $617 million. Overall trade has fallen due to an economic crisis impacted by triple digit inflation and monetary policies that severely restrict access to foreign exchange.
