Peru: New Price Band for Rice Imports

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Peru has established a new price band for rice that aims to increase importing costs. The new price band uses changes the reference price from Thai to Uruguayan rice prices. As Thai rice is lower in price, this measure will effectively increase the level of protection on Peruvian rice. U.S. rice is not affected by this change due to the stability granted by the U.S.-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement.
