Pakistan: FAIRS Country Report

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

The report outlines regulatory requirements and import procedures for food and agricultural imports into Pakistan. Additions to the 2020 report include an executive summary and a trade facilitation section. Effective July 1, 2019, Pakistan implemented new labelling and halal food requirements for all consumer food and beverage imported products. The Import Policy Order issued by the Ministry of Commerce governs the importation of items into Pakistan. The federal government regulates Pakistan’s food imports, and the provincial governments regulate food safety standards. In situations where a product is not covered by existing regulations in Pakistan, officials generally adopt Codex guidelines.
