  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Following Ecuador’s Ministry of Agriculture’s successful import in May 2015 of U.S.-origin live cattle, a follow-up shipment of high-quality U.S. animals arrived in Quito on December 19. This latest shipment of 36 head of cattle, valued at over $230,000, includes Angus (black and red), Holsteins, Herefords, Jersey, Brown Swiss, and Brangus originating in the States of Florida and Texas. There is substantial private sector interest in U.S. dairy and beef cattle for herd improvement. FAS Quito continues its outreach campaign with local dairy farmers and ranchers foreseeing new shipments in 2016.
