Ecuador: Ecuador Partially Lifts U.S.-Origin Poultry and Poultry Products Ban

FAS and APHIS Quito convinced AGROCALIDAD (Ecuador’s Sanitary Authority) to permit imports of U.S. processed poultry products from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza-free (HPAI) states, regions, zones or areas. On May 22, 2015, AGROCALIDAD issued Resolution 0101, partially lifting the ban on U.S.-origin poultry and poultry products, effectively recognizing that HPAI is not transmittable through exposure to processed poultry products and poultry meal. Ecuadorian importers confirm that they are once again obtaining import permits for U.S. poultry products such as chicken nuggets, grilled and crispy fillets, as well as poultry meal. A copy of AGROCALIDAD Resolution 0101 is attached.
