The Central Rural Work Conference (CRWC), which was held on December 23-24, 2022, reiterates the existing People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) priorities of ensuring food security and improving grain production capacity. The CRWC initiated a new action plan to improve grain production capacity by an additional 50 million metric tons. The CRWC also set a short-term goal of building a “strong agricultural nation” by incorporating ecologically friendly agricultural systems, assuring the supply of grain and key agricultural products, and ensuring PRC self-reliance in agricultural technology.
