China: Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards Country Report

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   CH2021-0037

This report presents the key regulations and standards applicable to food and agricultural imports, including changes to existing standards. In mid-March 2021, China issued 50 new national food safety standards and four revised standards, including the national food safety standards for cheese and formula foods for infants and children, the Code of Practice for the Prevention and Reduction of Aflatoxin Contamination in Food, and Maximum Residue Limits of Pesticides in Food (GB 2763-2021). Given the dynamic nature of China’s food regulations, U.S. exporters should verify the full set of import requirements with their China-based representatives or customers prior to shipping. This report provides updated information since the publication of the 2020 Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standard Country Report (FAIRS report) of China.
