The 2016 changes to nutrition labelling requirements came into force in December 2021, with enforcement discretion extended to December 2023. On June 20, 2022, final regulations banning certain single-use plastic products were published. Additionally, the publication of other final regulations is expected by the end of 2022, in the following areas: front of package labeling, and supplemented foods. From November 2022, the CFIA will resume normal enforcement, delayed during the pandemic, for food safety requirements for the manufactured food sector.
