Canada: Canada Consults on Piperonyl Butoxide Proposed Maximum Residue Limits

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   CA2023-0020

Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) opened consultations on proposed maximum residue limits (MRL) for piperonyl butoxide. This proposed revision will see the current MRL of 20 ppm for raw cereals revoked. When a MRL is revoked in Canada, the general MRL of 0.1 ppm comes into effect for both domestic production and imports. A number of cereal commodities are covered under the raw cereals designation including barley, corn, rice, and wheat. The consultation will remain open for 75 days for stakeholders to submit comments to PMRA, closing on May 16, 2023.
