Data and Analysis
Global exports of fresh fruit to the Philippines increased by 3 percent year-over-year, reaching $321 million in 2024, and are projected to grow by 25 percent in 2025. In contrast, U.S. exports declined by 10 percent year-over-year to $14 million in 2024 and are expected to decrease by at least 7 percent in 2025.
The Philippines represents a $1 billion market for imported seafood products, based on the average over the past five years. Despite strong demand, U.S. seafood accounts for less than one percent of the market, highlighting significant untapped potential in a market where the United States is already the number one supplier of food and agricultural products.
On September 30, 2025, the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) issued Molasses Order No. 1 (MO1), a moratorium on molasses imports following a surge in imports and spike in local output. While the moratorium is set to expire on December 31, 2025, the SRA said it can be extended or lifted depending on the stock balance. MO1 took effect on October 3, 2025.
