South Korea: Grain and Feed Update
The 2019/20 Marketing Year rice production forecast is unchanged from the previous report at 3.88 million metric tons (MMT), as price supports offset the government’s attempts to reduce rice paddy area through the rice reduction program. The rice consumption estimate is also unchanged from the previous report at 4.49 MMT. The rice export quantity is revised upward by 50,000 MT to account for food assistance expected to be donated to North Korea (DPRK).
