South Africa: South Africa Announces Regulatory Approach for New Breeding Techniques

On October 27, 2021, South Africa, through a public notice, announced its regulatory approach for New Breeding Techniques. According to the notice, the same risk assessment framework that exists for genetically engineered (GE) products under South Africa’s current Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) Act will apply to New Breeding Techniques (NBTs).
