Bulgaria: Organic Market Annual

The Bulgarian organic market continued to grow in 2021 with an estimated annual growth of 2.5 percent to $39 million. The main driver behind the growth was the stronger consumer focus on a healthier lifestyle and increased popularity for organic products perceived as healthful, which led to higher retail sales.

Japan: Japan Proposes a New JAS Standard for Miso

Japan invites public comments on the newly developed Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) for miso (fermented soybean paste). Comments are due on January 25, 2022 (Japan standard time).
Through proactive communication with Japanese importers and FAS/Washington, FAS/Tokyo ensured that Japan adopted a maximum residue level (MRL) for fenpropathrin in nectarines in line with the U.S. fenpropathrin MRL.
