The Government of Argentina (GOA) approved three new Genetically Engineered (GE) events in 2021 (two corn events and one alfalfa).

The Government of Argentina has announced new limits on corn and wheat exports. These limits are intended to guarantee sufficient supplies of both commodities for domestic users, in part to help reduce inflationary pressure.

For MY 2021/22, Post forecasts fresh lemon production at 1.65 MMT (million metric tons), as orchards recover from an unusually heavy blossom season in MY 2020/21.

Post lowers its MY 2021/22 projected planted area for soybeans to 17.0 million hectares. This reduction of 500,000 hectares will translate to total projected production of 49.7 million metric tons, 2.3 million metric tons below the USDA Official estimate.

Post forecasts Argentine 2022 beef exports at 630,000 tons carcass weight equivalent (cwe), the lowest volume since 2019.

Post projects 2020 Argentine chicken meat production at 2.3 million metric tons, up very slightly from 2021 levels.

Argentine biofuel production in 2021 continues to suffer from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which has reduced fuel demand, a prolonged domestic economic recession, and recent changes in policy.

Argentina’s raisin production is forecast to remain stable in MY 2021/22 at 44,500 metric tons (MT).
