Over the past 12 years (2003-2014) U.S. exports of consumer-oriented products and fish products to the Caribbean have averaged over nine percent annual growth, surpassing the $1 billion mark in 2014.
In 2014 the total fish catch in Lithuania was 150,000 MT, which included the long-distance, Baltic Sea, and inland fisheries.
Lithuania is the largest poultry meat producer among Baltic States. In 2014 production of poultry meat amounted to 99,700 MT and was 4 percent higher than in 2013.
It is estimated that in 2015 milk deliveries in Lithuania will remain at the previous year’s level. The Russian import ban and reduced export demand resulted in a drop of farm-gate milk prices.
The Russian ban on imports of live swine and restrictions on exports of pork caused by the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) resulted in a 5 percent decrease of swine inventories in 2014.
