Since the previous report, Taiwan has granted new approvals for imports of genetically engineered (GE) products for processing, food, and feed use. Taiwan has never permitted domestic production of GE crops or animals.

Honduras has not made any changes to its regulatory framework for genetically engineered (GE) crops. As of October 2025, the planted area of GE corn remains steady at 67,000 hectares, the same as in 2024.

Since food security is a top priority of the President Prabowo administration, Indonesia’s national strategy supports increased research and development of agricultural biotechnology products and has taken steps to approve agricultural biotechnology events.

On January 20, 2022, the Constitutional Court of Ecuador declared the unconstitutionality of article 56 of the Law on Seeds, Agrobiodiversity and Sustainable Agriculture, potentially allowing the President of the Republic to authorize the introduction of GE seeds for other purposes than research.

The Czech Republic maintains a scientific approach to agricultural biotechnology, with no significant legislative changes in 2025. A key development is the establishment of the Interministerial Council for Genetics and Genomics (ICGG) to create and coordinate national strategy for genetics and genomics across sectors.

Angola currently does not allow the production of genetically engineered (GE) plants or animals by law. Food aid imports containing GE ingredients are permitted with certain conditions. In December 2004, Angola’s Council of Ministers approved a decree prohibiting production and importation of genetically engineered GE crops.

FAS/Seoul forecasts Korea’s 2026 milk production to decrease to 1.93 million tons. Korean milk production continues to decline in line with industry contraction and demographic-driven consumption declines.

Global exports of fresh fruit to the Philippines increased by 3 percent year-over-year, reaching $321 million in 2024, and are projected to grow by 25 percent in 2025. In contrast, U.S. exports declined by 10 percent year-over-year to $14 million in 2024 and are expected to decrease by at least 7 percent in 2025.

The Republic of Korea’s (ROK) seafood imports totaled $5.52 billion in 2024, representing a 6.9 percent decrease from the previous year. Imports from the United States amounted to $182 million, down 10.1 percent year-over-year.
