Turkey’s cotton production is now estimated at 625,000 MT (2.87 million bales) on 350,000 hectares in marketing year (MY) 2020/21.
Indonesia cotton consumption for 2019/20 has declined to a 10-year low of 2.4 million bales due to weaker domestic and overseas demand related to COVID-19.
The MY 2018/19 Turkish cotton crop now estimated at 550,000 hectares and 920,000 MT (4.2 million bales).
Post lowered its MY 2018/19 area and production forecast to 11.8 million hectares and 28.5 million 480 lb. bales.
Delayed rains and low reservoir levels have led to a ten percent lower Kharif crop planting than the normal five year average during the southwest monsoon (June to September).
