The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) (food safety authority) has just inserted additional harmonized tariff system (HS) food product codes to the FSSAI Order No. 1829/Health Certificate/FSSAI/Imports-2021 of December 28, 2022.
On January 10, 2023, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order pertaining to FSSAI Order TIC-20012/2/2021-IMPORTS-FSSAI (E-2475), extending for a second time, the effective compliance date.

The FSSAI announced key updates to the Labeling and Display Regulations, including front-of-pack labeling for packaged food products and expanded list of rectifiable labeling deficiencies.
On December 28, 2022, the Government of India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) notified on its website No: 1829/Health Certificate/FSSAI/Imports-2021. The notification is in continuation to the FSSAI order from August 3, 2022, requiring all milk and milk products; pork and pork products; and fish and fish products, imported into India to be accompanied with a health certificate issued by the competent authority of the exporting country.

India: FAIRS Export Certificate Report Annual

In 2022, India granted import market access to U.S. pork and pork products, marking the resolution of a long-standing barrier to U.S. agricultural trade. In the course of this year, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published a series of notifications stipulating that effective January 1, 2023, all milk, pork and fish products imported into India require a health certificate issued by a competent authority of the exporting country in the format published in the FSSAI notification.
On December 13, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published notification No. Std/EC/T(NSF-01) (Appendix I) in the Gazette of India: Extraordinary. The notification was subsequently published on the FSSAI (food safety authority) website on December 14, 2022.

India: Oilseeds and Products Update

India’s soybean, peanut, and sunflowerseed production for marketing year (MY) 2022/23 (October-September) is estimated at 11.1 million metric tons (MMT), 6.65 MMT, and 200,000 metric tons, respectively, reflecting heavy late season rainfall in September and October that impacted yields and crop quality.
