The COVID-19 pandemic had a very negative impact on the Turkish consumer food service industry in 2020, with a strong decline in sales and widespread outlet closures seen throughout the industry.

Turkey's Marketing Year (MY) 2021/22 wheat production estimate is lowered slightly to 16.25 million metric tons (MMT), while barley production is further lowered to 4.5 MMT.

The total cherry production forecast in Turkey in Marketing Year (MY) 2021/22 is 860,000 metric tons (MT), which is 54,000 MT less than MY 2020/2021, due to frost damage that occurred in Izmir and Konya in the late spring.
