  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

The United States, as the second largest exporter of processed vegetables to Japan, accounts for 20 percent of the market, valued at US$560 million in 2018. Japan has just registered record import volumes of frozen vegetables in the first half of 2019, increasing 3 percent year-on-year to 526,000 tons. The United States is the top supplier of processed or frozen potatoes, corn, and mixed vegetables. The Japanese processed vegetable market is growing, due to an increasing demand for convenient food among consumers. In particular, the frozen vegetable segment, as the leading sub-category of imported processed vegetables in Japan, shows notable growth and offers U.S. suppliers continued market opportunities.
