India: Monsoon Report June 2016

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Delayed monsoon, high surface temperatures and low reservoir levels indicate a less than favorable situation for the Kharif crop (harvested April to October). The forecast of an above normal monsoon and its rapid progression across India is expected to support and improve the pace of planting. The Government of India announced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the 2016/17 Kharif season with additional bonuses for pulses and oilseeds.
