India: India's FSSAI Issues Clarification for Microbial Testing Requirements for Imported Food Products

On August 16, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued Clarification No. 1831/Misc./FSSAI/Imports/2022 pertaining to microbial testing requirements for imported food products. The FSSAI clarifies that only two parts of a food sample are required to be drawn during sampling by the authorized officer/representative as per the provisions of Regulation 9 of the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations (2017).
