The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted India’s hospitality sector, which is expected take another year to reach pre-COVID conditions and sales. Nonetheless, the sector is undergoing a rapid recovery thanks to growing domestic travel and a rise in restaurant dinning and catered events. Contacts report that rising vaccinations, waning government restrictions, and more workers returning to the office will allow the Indian hospitality sector to fully recover in 2022. Opportunities for U.S. exporters exist in consumer-oriented products, especially high-value food products such as tree nuts, fresh fruit, distilled spirits, condiments, and processed foods.
