  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

Post’s production estimate for MY 2015/16 is lowered to 27.5 million 480 lb. bales. Cotton arrivals picked up pace but lag by 20 percent from last year. Trade sources report that farmers and ginners continue holding cotton from the market in anticipation of higher prices. Mill consumption remains steady as large mills purchase cotton for short and medium term coverage. Exports remain weak though shipments in February were diversified into new markets. The Government of India released its second advance estimates of crop production.
