India: Cotton and Products Update

Indian MY 2019/20 cotton arrivals have picked up pace, but ex-gin prices continue to remain below the minimum support price. Cotton production for MY 2019/20 is estimated at 29.3 million 480 lb. with a planting area of 13 million hectares. Domestic consumption is estimated at 24. 6 million 480 lb. bales with an expected recovery in cotton yarn and apparel markets as Indian prices trade much lower than the Cotlook A-Index.
