On December 27, 2018, the Government of India’s (GOI) Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued guidelines to extend the compliance date on standards for fortified foods. In its earlier August 2, 2018 notification, FSSAI provided a transition period of five months to food business operators to comply with the regulations, ending January 1, 2019.
