Ghana: Ghana Opens Market to U.S. Cattle

On June 21, 2018, Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) confirmed acceptance of a USDA-proposed Veterinary Health Certificate for the export of cattle from the United States. Growing interest in a domestic dairy industry could generate demand for U.S. cattle as both local and international investors as well as Ghanaian officials take an interest in the establishment a commercially productive domestic herd. In 2017, Ghana imported an estimated $90 million in dairy and dairy products, of which the United States held a 1.5 percent market share.
