Chile: Raisin Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

MY 2017/18 production is projected to decline by nearly five percent to 60,000 metric tons (MT) as yields are projected to return to historical levels and area harvested is expected to remain at 45,800 hectares. Climatic conditions are expected to bolster table grape production which will support raisins. An estimated 22 percent of total grape production is destined for raisins. Due to lower supplies, 2017/18 exports are expected to decline to 58,000 MT. Table grape production that is not exported fresh is shifted to the production of raisins, juice or wine. In MY2015/16 raisin exports were 55,621 MT while MY2016/17 exports rebounded at 60,913 MT.
