Argentina: Government Modifies Export Rebates to Bolster ValueAdded Products

On December 30th, 2016, the government of Argentina modified export rebates for a wide range of high value and value-added agricultural products to support regional rural economies and strengthen the competitiveness of these exports. Local reports and contacts indicate that the agro-export sector had sought differential treatment vis-à-vis raw commodities. This measure is estimated to cost the Argentine government over USD $160 million.
